Campaign complete! Going forward, next steps and timelines
5 months ago – Fri, Apr 03, 2026 at 05:42:26 PM

Hey Folks-

Thank you for all your support during the campaign. This is going to be a short update, I just want to give some timeline and next steps:

  • Pledge Manager: This is where you'll get digital rewards (some of which are already ready, some of which will become available as the project fulfils). This should take 1-2 Weeks to set up. Estimate: Let's go with the week after next.
  • Kickstarter Additions Polls: This is where all those ideas folks submitted get voted. These should start running next week. Estimate: Next week.
  • Custom Content: For folks at the custom content tiers, these should go out a little bit after pledges and collected and confirmed. You will get an email, and we'll talk via Email or Discord the details. Estimate: Next week for initial contact, weeks to months based on the idea/timeline.

That's the initial wave of tasks. Of course, there is fulfilling the campaign. In the regard, I will bring you updates each month about where we are. These will include some of the systems I haven't shown or demoed yet, some of the Kickstarter content, etc. Once the draft is complete, it will go through editing and art assets will continue to get loaded in.

And, of course, the artists will be hard at work the whole time.

The timelines for deliver of the PDF/VTT/Books were on the pledge tiers, but for folks that missed those the loose estimate is

  • PDF -> November 2026
  • VTT -> Jan 2027
  • Book -> May 2027

As always, these are pretty loose estimates.

If the PDF is really finished by November, I would hope the book is ready before May... but I also treat international shipping with some degree of skepticism and suspicion at this point given how much trouble can pop up in it, and it's ultimately the part of the process where I have very little impact, so I don't want to promise too much there.

As always, for folks that want more of a play-by-play, feel free to drop by the Discord. Not everything there is relevant to the Kickstarter, but I'm active there pretty much everyday.

To all the folks here—be that for the first or third time—thank you for your support. Feel free to ask any questions about the process, and I'm happy to answer.

170K! Final Hours! Final Stretch Goal! Final Campaign Funding Update!
5 months ago – Thu, Apr 02, 2026 at 11:01:31 AM

Hey Folks-

Not much to add here beyond that we are in the final stretch now—just a few hours left! As some folks have already seen, I've updated the stretch goals. We've knocked down already and are at the threshold for the last and final stretch goal of the campaign:

As I write this, we have about 6 hours left and about $3,000 left to the goal, so we'll see if we can close the final gap.

As we've unlocked another set of spells, I'll link the suggestion forms again:

Get your last minute suggestions in now! And for folks that want to vote, remember that it'll be a vote of backers, so now is your time to ensure your voting rights by backing the campaign if you haven't already!

Speaking final gaps, in the final hours, Catlocks remain just slightly ahead of the Paladin Doggos:

I'll make another update after the campaign with some post campaign details (once the dust settles and what not), but you can expect a brief period while I get the Pledge Manager set up before we get stuff that's already set out. I would say 1-2 weeks there, but I don't have a completely locked in timeline. Could be next week, but not promising anything yet, shouldn't be long though.

From there folks can customize their pledges like usual. Once we are settled in, I will update folks every month with the progress. We will start those with updates to the Playtest Packet, and eventually the Playtest Packet will become the KCAA Draft as it gets refined toward final.

For one last project spotlight...

The DM's Toolbox - Resource Book for D&D 5e

This one is for all the DMs out there, by Dungeon Loot. It has not yet funded, so they need a few extra eyes. From its creator:

The DM’s Toolbox is a 125+ page resource book made for Dungeon Masters who want to create memorable campaigns without spending hours preparing. Inside, you’ll find a collection of ready to use tools including adventure hooks, boss monsters, NPCs, traps, puzzles, and skill challenges designed to fit into any setting. The tools are all in depth, not just random tables with one line descriptions.

Alongside the book is a deck of 75 original magic item cards, designed to bring treasure to life at the table. When you reward a player with an item, you can hand them the card to make it easier for them to know what their items do. This project is 100% human made with no AI-generated art. The DM’s Toolbox is built to help you spend less time preparing and more time creating unforgettable moments with your players.

Sounds like someone many folks can get behind, so go check it out!

Thank you for all the support so far!

All the best,

150K! Modular Alchemy! Approaching the 48 hour mark! New Stretch Goals?
5 months ago – Tue, Mar 31, 2026 at 10:34:50 AM

Hey Folks-

We've broken past yet another 'Final' stretch goal, so it's time to reload them. But I do want to approach this a little cautiously, since one of the goals with this book is to get it out much faster than the previous project.

I like Kickstarter stretch goals with audience participation (voting, ideas, etc) since that's what Kickstarters are all about, but obviously that content needs to be made, tested, etc. Within reason, that doesn't slow the process down much as there's a lot of things that happen in parallel, but I don't want to go too crazy.

Consequently, I think Modular Alchemy will be the last big stretch goal, but seeing how things go we'll have more subclasses and what not.

160K Stretch Goal

But to start with I think there is a solid compromise which will come into life with the next stretch goal: at 160K, I will include a new subclass for Psion in the book, called Illusory Mind. How does this apply to what I've just said? Well, this subclass will be written by fellow creator (and longtime editor, friend, and moderator of my Discord!) somanyrobots. Some of you will know Somanyrobots from his own Kickstarter project, Songs of the Spellbound Sea.

I will work with Somanyrobots on another pass and further playtesting testing (as needed) for the subclass, but you can see a draft version already created here. Somanyrobots has a great understanding of my content and shares a very similar philosophy on content, so including one of their subclasses here feels like an obvious fit when I was in need of a new stretch goal!

You'll be hearing more about somanyrobots in the future, as they have their own Kickstarter coming up later this year: Machines of Blood and Bone. Feel free to give it a follow if you're interested, they are one of the short list of writers I would certainly try to hire if I was ever running a TTRPG company for real, so I certainly recommend checking their stuff out.

I've been a little sick recently, but working on keeping things running along. I will be sending out a preliminary email to all the Custom Tier Backers in not too long just verifying all ideas, and all the artists have been cranking away at the piles of art the book will need... some cool stuff in there!

Can you guess which subclass each is for? It's a trick question... one of them hasn't been published yet!

Now... onto this Kickstarter's spotlight...

Serenity Springs - Campaign setting and adventure for DnD

What happens when DnD characters have to contend with the horrors of a 1950's suburb?

This one is a bit of a smaller project (and a curious one!) but I imagine some folks will get a kick out of the idea—it's a very curious idea mixing genres and styles to bring something novel. The adventure is for 3rd to 5th level characters, and is estimated to be 15-20 hours of playtime.

To give a brief summary from Grinning Portal Games:

Serenity Springs is a horror setting for D&D based on 1950s suburban America. It's an endless suburb of identical houses full of emotionally repressed people in a world devoid of color. The citizens of Serenity Springs are perpetually tormented by The Hayze, a malevolent cloud of static that censors all violence and sexuality… and occasionally conjures inhuman monsters of every shape and size (deemed “Commies” by the populace).

If that sounds interesting (or just weird enough you have to take a look, go check out their Kickstarter. It just launched today, and there's more information over on their page.

Thank you guys for the support so far. You'll be hearing from me a few more times as we hit the final 48 hours in the next day (possibly having to reload the stretch goals again! we'll see how the final push goes).

As always, feel free to let me know if you have any questions either here or over on the Discord.

All the best,

140K! Closing in Final(?) Stretch Goal! Approaching the final week! + Updates
5 months ago – Tue, Mar 24, 2026 at 11:02:09 AM

Hey Folks-

We've cleared 140k (and reached almost 2,000 backers!) as we approach the final week. I guess I will have to start prepping some Stretch Goals beyond 150k. In the meantime, the forms for the previous stretch goals are still open, I'll collect them here:

Now that we've hit 140K, we've unlocked the Chronoshifted Airship threats! These will draw on some of the most dangerous foes from the previous books and remix them with some new threats... put them all in the sky with their own airship encounter map, new aerial statblocks that can threaten an airship, and a sleek-yet-deadly airship model of their own only the most veteran sky-sailors can handle...

Speaking of veteran sky-sailors, I've gotten one of the latest pieces of item art from Haya (who has once more provided a nifty time-lapse, and looks like it would be mighty fine adornment for a veteran sky-captain...!

The modular crafting system allows you to create a boundless list of magic items, but I'll be providing a good number of example items like the above Captain's Coat, both for cool visuals and inspiration. These time lapses are the idea of Haya (the artist who drew them!), and I think its really cool to see art leap to life like this!

As for the Sticker Showdown update...

It seems the catlock lead remains insurmountable! We'll see if there is a final burst left in the race.

As for this update's spotlight...

BIG BADS: Most Wanted

The latest campaign from Hit Point Press (who you may know from a vast library of the previously published work!), Big Bads: Most Wanted collects 25+ 5th Edition boss monsters from the Big Bads line and includes tons of new content - campaign frames, a new shadowy organization players can join, plus campaign frames that connect multiple Big Bads into a larger story.

They've got a jam-packed Kickstarter of stylish themes and foes, a Free Preview that shows you what it's all about (...if you dare to click the frankly horrifying gif that bars entry to it... I'll elaborate on that no further, just go over and see for yourself!... though it's horrifying in the sense that it's supposed to be horror-themed... let's just say I'm not leaving that gif up on my screen while I type this out!)

Go check it out! Absolutely looks like a lot of stuff people could use in all sorts of games.

Seeing the Finish Line

As always, thanks for the support in bringing the campaign so far! Now's the time to share it with any blokes that might need some time to consider. I've updated the 151 free preview, and will try to push out at least one more update in the final week (hopefully 2) with a bit more content to share!

Onward to Modular Alchemy!

Like always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me here or on Discord.

Another stretch goal down! + new idea submission forms for spells & feats!
5 months ago – Tue, Mar 17, 2026 at 09:08:02 AM

Hey Folks-

We've cleared 110k, and with that we've unlocked another stretch goal. Now we are diving into additional spells and feats, and so I'm opening the floodgates to idea submissions for the Kickstarter voting polls for those. They are both in this form, you can submit ideas for either or both, and you can submit as many ideas as you want (just fill out the form multiple times).

Spell & Feats Theme Submission Form

We already have a modest 245 subclass submissions, so I'm sure we'll have plenty of options for feats and spells after you folks have your say!

As for the important part of the update...

It seems the Worldly Patron the Provider has provided, as someone invested in a whole sheet of catlock stickers...

There is a exciting Kickstarter to spotlight this time...

Heliana & Ryoko's Guide to Mythozoology

My friends over at Loot Tavern have just launched their biggest and epic D&D expansion, Heliana X Ryoko's Guide to Mythozoology!

Mythozoology is over 1000 pages of legendary monster hunts, 26+ new subclasses, 16+ new species, 100+ new monsters, and a whole load of rules expansions and new mechanics to enhance your games, for D&D 2014 and 2024! They're got a bunch of free playtest material on their kickstarter page, so go check it out!

They've got mechanics for collaborative, final-fantasy inspired summoning, crafting and piloting vehicles, airships, and mechs, their own harvesting, crafting, and brewing, armor mastery, and an all new Maker class that animates the world around them to enhance their allies and destabilize foes. They're also giving away free Blue Crystal Myth dice to anyone who backs before Sunday!

It has just launched, but I'm sure will already be funded by the time anyone is reading this! Go check it out. Heliana's and Ryoko's were both fan favorites, so I'm betting on this double sequel to be the Kickstarter event of the year.

Thanks for the support so far, and let me know if you have any questions.
